Abu Qasim mastermind of Udhampur attack killed in encounter in South Kashmir

In a major success for security forces, top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Qasim, accused of masterminding the Udhampur attack, was killed in an overnight encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Kashmir valley today observed a shutdown in response to a call given by separatist militants and politicians to protest the 1947 landing of the Army in the region.
