Three militants have been killed during a brief gunfight between militants and the government forces in district Anantnag on wee hours of Monday. DIG south Kashmir Amit Kumar told Kashmir Post that a nocturnal Cordon and Search Operation was launched at Malikpora, Hakura area of Anantnag, ensuing in a brief gunfight. Death toll in Shopian firing incident mounts to six

The death toll in Sunday night’s firing incident in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir has climbed to six after one more body was recovered from the scene on Monday. “Another body has been found at a distance from Sunday evening’s incident at Pahnoo Shopian,” a police spokesman said. He said the deceased had been identified as Gowhar Ahmed Lone of Chitragam in Shopian. Sources said Lone’s body was recovered from a car. Jammu-Srinagar highway shut due to landslides in Ramban

The 300-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed due to landslide and falling of stones from hill tops in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police official said on Friday. “Traffic has been suspended on the highway due to falling of rocks and landslide triggered due to rains in Digdol belt in Ramsoo tehsil of the district today,” the police officer said. The men and machines of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been pressed into service to clear the landslides.

One-way traffic restored on Jammu-Srinagar highway

The strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway that had remained closed for the last four days, was restored for one-way traffic on Friday. “Traffic will move from Jammu to Srinagar. No vehicle will be allowed in the opposite direction,” a traffic official said. The highway had remained closed due to multiple landslides in Udhampur and Ramban districts stranding thousands of passengers on both sides.
