Forty people, including several children, were injured on Friday when a footbridge collapsed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, officials said. The incident took place at Beni Sangam in the Bain village of Chenani block during Baisakhi celebrations, they said. People in large numbers were on the bridge when it collapsed, the officials said. Mosques throughout Kashmir valley on Wednesday made an announcement that Ramadhan, the holy month of fasting, would commence tomorrow. The Taraweeh prayers would be offered tonight. The announcements came after central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan announced that the Ramadan moon was sighted and the first of the holy month will fall on Thursday (tomorrow). Ramban: Traffic on the Srinagar highway was suspended due to fresh mudslide and shooting stones at several locations in Ramban district, officials said on Monday. A bus accident in Pulwama resulted in the death of four people and left 28 others injured as the vehicle overturned

Four people were killed and 28 injured on Saturday when the bus in which they were travelling turned turtle as the driver lost control of the vehicle in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The incident took place on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Barsoo area of the south Kashmir district, they said. Four passengers, all residents of Bihar, died in the accident. Twenty-eight passengers were injured and 23 of them have been taken to various hospitals here for treatment, the officials said.

Two persons died after being hit by an Ambulance vehicle near the newly constructed children’s hospital at Bemina Srinagar during midnight, officials said on Wednesday. They said that the duo was grievously injured after being hit by the ambulance and were shifted to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar where doctors declared them brought dead on arrival.
