KPDCL Announces Scheduled Power Shutdowns for Essential Maintenance in Kashmir

– The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various regions in Kashmir to facilitate essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. These shutdowns are crucial for ensuring reliable power supply during the harsh winter months.

Scheduled Shutdowns and Affected Areas

The Chief Engineer of KPDCL’s Distribution Wing has outlined the following schedule for power shutdowns:

  • 33KV Waterhail Tap Line: Shutdown on December 3 and 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This will impact the 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Waterhail, resulting in power outages in Samsan, Parthan, Waterhail, and PHE Substation areas.
  • 33KV Kremshore Line: Shutdown on December 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This will affect the 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at Kremshore, Khansahib, Raithan, and Brenwar, leading to power outages in these areas.
  • 33KV Budgam Parthan Line: Shutdown on December 15, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This will impact the 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Budgam, affecting areas such as Budgam Town, Ompora, Housing Colony Bemina, JawalPora, and JNV.
  • 33KV Nehalpora Patan Markundal Line: Shutdown on December 14 and 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This will affect the 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at Markundal, Naidkhai, Shahgund, and Aglar, impacting areas such as Naidkhai, Markundal, Shahgund, Khamina, Zaipora, Irrigation Colony, and Sumbal.

Importance of Maintenance

The scheduled shutdowns are part of KPDCL’s efforts to ensure the stability and reliability of the power grid in Kashmir. The maintenance works include the replacement of damaged poles, reconductoring of lines, and augmentation of receiving stations. These measures are essential for preventing unscheduled power cuts and improving the overall efficiency of the power distribution system.
