In a significant development, the INDIA alliance, a coalition of opposition parties, has revealed key appointments and committee members in preparation for the upcoming elections.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have been selected as vital members of the coordination committee and election strategy committee within the alliance. Sources suggest that the National Conference will not yield any of its Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir to other partners in the coalition.
In the previous parliamentary elections, the National Conference secured all three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir, defeating the People’s Conference in Baramulla, the PDP in Srinagar, and the Congress in South Kashmir’s Anantnag Lok Sabha seat. The PDP held the third position in the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.
Justice (retd.) Hasnain Masoodi has also been named a member of the coalition’s campaign committee, further enhancing the alliance’s election preparations.
Furthermore, the INDIA alliance has reinforced its digital presence by appointing Ifra Jan from the National Conference and Iltija Mufti, the daughter of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, as members of the working group for social media. To bolster its media outreach, the alliance has enlisted Tanvir Sadiq from the National Conference and Mohit Bhan from the PDP as members of the media working group.
These appointments underscore the alliance’s commitment to a coordinated and robust approach as they gear up for the impending electoral challenges.
