Jammu and Kashmir reported 51 more covid-19 deaths while 3308 people were confirmed to have contracted the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.
They said 34 of the fresh fatalities were reported from Jammu Division and 17 from Kashmir Valley, taking the fatality count to 3564.
Regarding the fresh cases, the officials told that 1121 were reported from Jammu Division and 2187 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall case count to 270621.
Moreover, they said, 4956 more COVID-19 patients have recovered—1883 from Jammu Division and 3073 from Kashmir. There are 47437 active positive cases, 19403 in Jammu and 28034 in the Valley, they said.
Providing district wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 512 cases, Baramulla 239, Budgam 401, Pulwama 160, Kupwara 265, Anantnag 150, Bandipora 111, Ganderbal 127, Kulgam 159, Shopian 63, Jammu 447, Udhampur 77, Rajouri 96, Doda 75, Kathua 98, Samba 93, Kishtwar 29, Poonch 74, Ramban 71and Reasi 61.
A number of these cases were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories of CD hospital and GMC Anantnag, they said.

Meanwhile, A suspected Mucormycosis (Black Fungus) patient is admitted at Government Dental College (GDC) Srinagar.
Officials at the Dental College Srinagar told that a suspected case of black fungus is admitted at the hospital, however, final confirmation is yet to come.
Dr Irshad Ahmad Misger, Assistant Professor at Oral & Maxillofacial department Government Dental College Srinagar said that a patient from Srinagar, who was tested positive for Covid-19 on May 05 this year and had recovered recently, has been admitted at GDC and is a suspected case of black fungus.
He said that patient is on long-term steroids and is also suffering from “uncontrolled diabetes.”
He said that they are going for biopsy of the patient to get the final confirmation tomorrow the report of which is likely to get confirm in next two days.
The doctor said that there is no need to worry as one patient suffering from black fungus has been already treated at the hospital in November last year and patient survived.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K on Friday reported first death due to black fungus epidemic when a 40 year old male from Poonch died at GMC Jammu.
Earlier HOD at CD hospital Dr Naveed Nazir said that black fungus isn’t a contagious disease and there is need to avoid self-medication
“Mucormycosis is not a new disease neither contagious. We just need to avoid self medication like steroids, identify high risk patients and keep blood sugar under control,” He tweeted.
“As per HoD Oral & Maxillofacial surgery GDC Srinagar they have already successfully operated one case of mucormycosis in Nov 2020 and another strong suspect case admitted with them.. both post covid and diabetics, he tweeted.
