Clashes erupted near the site of an encounter between militants and government forces in Padgampora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
Youth took to streets and clashed with forces to disrupt the anti-militant operation.
Meanwhile, reports said that the family of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Shafi Shergujri of Banderpora has been brought near the encounter site to persuade him to surrender.
Shafi is reportedly trapped in a house which has been cordoned off by the forces.
A young boy was killed during clashes near the encounter site in Padgampora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as 15-year-old Amir Nazir of Beegumbagh Kakapora.
He was a student of ninth standard.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Pulwama Talat Jabeen said the boy was declared dead on arrival at PHC Kakapora.
Local reports said that another civilian has sustained a bullet injury in his leg. He was shifted to Srinagar for treatment, they said.
Train service from Budgam-Srinagar to Banihal in Jammu region was suspended Thursday for security reasons following encounter between militants and forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
However, train service on Srinagar-Badgam in the central Kashmir to Baramulla in north was running as per schedule, a railway official told Kashmir Post.
He said all trains running on Budgam-Srinagar-Pulwama, Anantnag and Qazigund to Banihal in Jammu region have been suspended.
