The rightwing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday linked the United States for Kashmir militancy.
During the discussion in the Legislative Assembly on the civilian killings in Kashmir, BJP MLA Ravinder Raina said, “There is a US link to terrorism in Kashmir.”
He said the United States was selling weapons to Islamabad and Pakistan was sending those weapons to Kashmir.
“The people who use those weapons and the people who are their sympathizers should all be dealt with sternly,” the BJP leader said.
Raina’s statement comes at a time when India has become a major defense partner of the United States and is becoming a major US ally while rival Pakistan is drifting toward China and Russia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has so far visited the United States four times.
“Kashmir is a fight between democrats and anti-democrats,” Raina said.
