The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Tuesday reviewed progress of work on roads and bridges being carried out in Kashmir valley.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer R&B, Commissioner SMC, officials of ERA, JKPCC besides Deputy Commissioners of all thedistricts of the valley through video conferencing.
During the meeting, Chief Engineer R&B said during the current fiscal 1098.09 Kms of road length has been blacktopped/macadamized and 619.67 Kms of road has been brought to WBM status. He said other works including construction of drains, protection walls and footpaths have been executed under cities and towns program.
He said an amount of Rs 80.92 crore has been released till date against work done claim of Rs 590.25 crore. Under Tourist Destination Programme 177.40 Kms of road length has been blacktopped/macadamized and 45.50 Kms of road has been brought to WBM status. He informed Divisional Commissioner that an amount of Rs 21.58 crore has been released till date against work done claim of Rs 67.10 crore.
During the meeting Chief Engineer informed the Divisional Commissioner that 252 bridges are under construction at an estimated cost of Rs 802.99 crore out of which R&B is constructing 204 bridges while JKPCC is constructing 48 bridges. He said Rs 290.02 crore have been expended till last financial year. He said 15 bridges have been targeted for completion by the end of this financial year.
Divisional Commissioner asked the officers to expedite work on various projects so that they are completed in stipulated time. He also asked the line departments to work in unison while executing developmental projects
