The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj today said it would engage a total of 1,200 data entry operators at the panchayat level in clusters to enable panchayats to function on modern lines and have means to maintain books of account.
This was announced by Minister for RuralDevelopment and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan while chairing a review meeting at the Civil Secretariat.
“For strengthening the panchayati raj institutions, the departmentwill engage 1,200 accountant-cum-data entry operators at the panchayatlevel in clusters so that panchayats are able to function on modern lines and have means to maintain books of account,”he said.
“The decision has been taken as panchayats have to frame gram panchayat development plans. They will be pivots of planning and development atthe grassroots,” the minister said.
He said the department had decided to designate Additional District Development Commissioners in districts as district nodal officers of the Rural Development Department viz-a-viz facilitators for the effective implementation and achievementof targets of Centr-ally sponsored schemes and programmes.
