As the news about the killing of LeT commander Abu Qasim reached Kulgam town of south Kashmir scores of youth took to streets and started anti-India sloganeering.
Reports said that protests were going on in Kulgam amid complete shutdown.
The most wanted LeT commander, Abu Qasim according to police was killed in an encounter at Khandaypora, village of Kulgma district last night.
According to the Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone S.J.M.Gillani cordon and search operation was launched at village Khandaypora, Kulgam in south Kashmir which turned into an encounter and which culminated on the killing of LeT Div. Commander, Abu Qasim.
“Ab. Rehman @ Abu Qasim S/O Ab. Majeed was a resident of Bhawalpur Multan,” Gillani said.
Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in funeral (Janaza) of top Let commander Abu Qasim at Kulgam main Adda.
Government forces resorted to aerial firing to disperse hundreds of protesters who staged a demonstration in Kulgam district of south Kashmir against the death of top Lashkar militant Abu Qasim.
Protests broke out earlier today near the encounter site in Khandaypora village of Kulgam where police said LeT commander Abu Qasim was killed late last night.
Witnesses said that angry youths took to streets at Khandaypora village after the news of death of Abu Qasim spread in the area.
To break up the demonstrations, police resorted to aerial firing, they said.
The protests were going on at the time of filing of this report.
