Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was brought to a standstill for nine hours after heavy morning rains triggered multiple landslides in Ramban district. The reopening of the highway (NH 44), the only all-weather surface link that connects Kashmir with the rest of the country, in the afternoon paved the way for the Baltal-bound Amarnath pilgrims to proceed to the cave shrine from Chanderkote, officials said.
