Leh in frontier Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir was the coldest place in the state with the night temperature plummeting to minus 9.5 degrees Celsius. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has discovered a 10,500-year-old (8,500 BC) camping site at a height of 14,000 feet en route the Karakoram Pass in Ladakh. A young Nepali boy was killed and public property was damaged when a cloudburst hit Alchinathang Yokma and Alchinathang Gongma villages, 135 km from Leh, today.
