Sheikh Nagar in Jammu could soon be called Shiv Nagar, and Amphalla Chowk could be renamed as Hanuman Chowk, if a resolution passed at the Jammu Municipal Corporation is accepted by the Jammu and Kashmir administration. Professor Bhim Singh was expelled from the party he had founded for taking part in a meeting of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) at the Bhatindi residence of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah. One person has died after an under-construction tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district caved in Thursday night. Nine others are still trapped. The dead man was from West Bengal, deputy commissioner Mussarat Islam said, adding that of those still trapped, four more were from that state.
