Life in Kashmir valley has been thrown out of gear in response to a strike call given by joint Hurriyat leadership to protest the killing of eight civilians on the election day on Sunday. Shops, business establishments and government offices are closed. Traffic is also off the roads. Police and para-military forces are keeping a strict vigil. Firing near PDP rally in Achabal, Panic after loud bang at Khanyar
Militants Saturday afternoon fired at CRPF personnel deployed near the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally in Achabal. Our correspondent in south Kashmir confirmed that nobody was hurt in the firing. The rally has been called off and police have cordoned off the area to try and nab the attackers.
