Prayers not allowed at Jama Masjid in Nowhatta: Managing Body

The managing body of the Jama Masjid in Nowhatta here claimed that authorities disallowed the ‘Shab-e-Barat’ prayers at the mosque on Tuesday. The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid said police and administration officials locked the mosque gates at 5.30 pm. The Auqaf said it strongly protested the “highhandedness”. A man died while several others were injured after a massive landslide occurred on Srinagar-Jammu national highway near Seri area of Ramban district on Tuesday. An official told the news agency, a massive landslide occurred near Seri area today afternoon, burying two vehicles under the debris. A mini bus overturned in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, leaving two passengers dead and 12 others injured, officials said. The private passenger vehicle was on its way to Kandi from Budhal when the accident took place near Phani Tran village around 11.30 am, they said. Block Medical Officer, Kandi, Dr Iqbal Malik said the injured were brought to community health centre, Kandi and two of them – Shakil Ahmad of Kewal and Badar Hussain of Kandi – succumbed to injuries.
