The advisory, released by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), urges people to take precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses and ensure public safety.

Key Recommendations for Residents

The advisory outlines essential steps to help residents cope with the extreme heat:

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, lemon juice, and buttermilk to maintain hydration. Avoid caffeinated, carbonated, and alcoholic beverages.
  • Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid stepping out between 12 PM and 3 PM, when the heat is most intense. If necessary, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
  • Use Head Coverings: Caps, towels, and umbrellas can help protect against direct sun exposure.
  • Check on Vulnerable Groups: Infants, elderly individuals, outdoor workers, and those with chronic health conditions need extra care.
  • Ensure Proper Ventilation: Keep living spaces cool by using fans, air conditioners, and shaded areas.
