Kashmir Hit by Double Blow: Cloudbursts Cause Death and Destruction
Srinagar, Aug 15: A newly constructed road and a bridge at Arin area of Dardpora in north Kashmir’s Bandipore was damaged following a cloudburst in the area, officials said Thursday.
They said that a cloudburst took place in the forest area of Arin Dardpora, which damaged the newly constructed road and a bridge at Dardpora. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported so far, news agency KNC reported.
There are also reports of flash floods in Khundir Nallah which is in the same area. Official teams have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation, it said.
Meanwhile, A man died after a cloudburst hit Damhal Hanjipora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday, official said. An official told news agency KNO that the cloudburst hit Banward area in DH Pora and soon after a rescue operation was launched. “One person died in the incident, while another suffered injuries. Police and civil administration is on the spot,” he said.
The deceased has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Chouhan son of Mohammad Hussain Chouhan of Bangward Bala. The injured person has been identified as Rafakat Ahmad Chouhan son of Mohammad Hussain Chouhan, also from Bangward Bala. Tehsildar DH Pora, Zahid Ahmad, told KNO that a team has been rushed to the spot, and further details will be shared later.
