Police Armored Vehicle Runs Over Elderly Man In Hawal
Srinagar: A 75 year-old man lost his life after allegedly being run over by a police armored vehicle in Hawal area of the city here Friday afternoon. The incident sparked protests in the area, with demonstrators demanding legal action against the driver they accused of negligent driving.”
The deceased, whom they identified as Abdul Salam, a native of Hawal, was crossing the road, when an armored vehicle of Jammu and Kashmir police struck him near Firdous Cinema, leaving him critically injured.
No sooner had the incident taken place; the injured was removed to Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) by the police, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
Meanwhile, Police said it has registered FIR and the matter is under investigation to “determine the exact circumstances leading to the unfortunate event.” People of the area have demanded immediate action into the incident.
