In two separate incidents in Kashmir on Saturday, a man allegedly poisoned his two-year-old grandson, and a woman killed her husband.
The first incident took place in the Mir Bazar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The family of the victim said that a dispute was going on between the father and the son’s family for a long time, and that the man allegedly poisoned his grandson in the form of an injection. The child is currently in critical condition in a hospital in Srinagar.
The second incident took place in the Rawathpora area of Srinagar district. The woman allegedly beat her husband to death. The police have arrested the woman, and a case has been registered in the matter.
These two incidents have shocked the community, and have raised concerns about the rising incidents of violence in Kashmir. Domestic violence is a serious problem in Kashmir, and it is often overlooked. The police need to take strong action against perpetrators of domestic violence, and the government needs to provide more support to victims.
