Tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir, Noida, and other areas after an earthquake was reported in Pakistan. The National Center of Seismology confirmed an earthquake of 5.7 magnitude in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region. The quake occurred at 9.45 am IST at the depth of 181km. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake occurred 45km southwest of Ashkāsham, Afghanistan. Six persons killed in road accident in Kishtwar

Six passengers were killed when a vehicle in which they were traveling skidded and fell into a gorge in Kishtwar district on Thursday evening, authorities here said. An Eeco vehicle carrying six people skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge near Nagriana area, they said. Five persons died on the spot and one succumbed to his injuries in hospital, they said. The deceased have been identified as Latief Rather, Abdul Rehman, Mohd Irfan, Ghulam Hassan, Atta Mohd, and Zubair Ahmed, they said.
