The Covid-19 attributed deaths and positive cases are continuing to show a downward trend for the last one week, with Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reporting 24 fatalities and 1718 new cases. Two fresh cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) were also confirmed.
As per the details shared by the health department, 2 new confirmed cases of mucormycosis have been reported today, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 12 in J&K.
The positivity rate is also showing a dip, on Wednesday out of 45753 tests conducted, 1718 positive cases were reported implying a positivity rate of 3.5 percent which is lowest in the last over a month.
Apart from decline in fresh positive cases the fresh infection cases are being outnumbered by the recoveries. J&K has reported 3391 more recoveries, with it the number of active positive cases too have come down further to 31000 which was 50000 a fortnight ago.
However, experts caution against lowering the guard against the virus stating that lockdown has shown its impact.
On Wednesday, 24 Covid-19 positive patients succumbed to their illness, 17 deaths have been reported in Kashmir division and 7 deaths from Kashmir division. With it the total number of deaths reported in J&K has reached 3963 of which 2031 deaths have been reported in Kashmir division and 1932 in Jammu division.
As per the details shared by the health department, 01 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Rajouri, 03 in GMC Kathua, 01 in MH Satwari Jammu, 02 in Home/ Brought Dead, 03 in SMHS Sgr, 01 in SKIMS JVC Bemina, 01 in SKIMS Soura, 01 in DH Bandipora, 01 in CD Hosp Srinagar, 01 in Govt GB Pant Hosp Srinagar, 01 in CHC Kupwara, 04 in GMC Anantnag, 01 in GMC Baramulla & 01 in DH Kulgam.
As far as the Covid-19 cases are concerned, 1718 persons tested positive out of 45753 tests done in J&K – 585 from Jammu Division and 1133 from Kashmir Division -with it the total number of Covid infection cases has reached 294078.
Srinagar reported 320 cases, Baramulla 102, Budgam 137, Pulwama 158, Kupwara 90, Anantnag 103, Bandipora 62, Ganderbal 53, Kulgam 81, Shopian 27, Jammu 169, Udhampur 57, Rajouri 75, Doda 52, Kathua 25, Samba 41, Kishtwar 33, Poonch 62, Ramban 49and Reasi 22.
As per the official figures, 3391 more COVID-19 patients have recovered, 1327 from Jammu division and 2064 from Kashmir division, taking the total number of recoveries to 258536.
The number of active positive cases has shown a downward trend, currently 31579 active cases are in J&K – 20099 in Kashmir and 11480 in Jammu division.
As per the details shared by the health department, 5976 hospital beds have been designated for Covid-19 patients, of which 2040 are occupied by patients admitted in various hospitals across J&K. 1700 Covid patients are on oxygen support and 100 on ventilator support.
