After witnessing considerably low temperatures in May, the mercury is gradually rising in the valley as summer capital Srinagar recorded a 31.9 degree Celsius on Sunday, which is the highest temperature of the season so far.
Deputy Director Meteorological Centre, Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Post that Srinagar had recorded the hottest day of the season so far on Sunday and this trend will continue for the next few days in the valley.
“We are expecting dry weather to continue and there will be an increase of 2-3 degrees in temperatures in the next few days,” he said.
As per MeT data, Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest with a high of 21.8 degrees Celsius. Qazigund and Pahalgam recorded the maximum temperature of 31.0°C, and 31.9°C respectively.The maximum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 37.4 degrees Celsius.
As per the advisory issued by the Traffic department for Monday LMVs shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar while traffic on historic Mughal road only load carriers including fresh perishable shall be allowed from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch.
