Seven deaths in Kashmir valley
As many as 696 new Covid cases — 202 from the Jammu division and 494 from the Kashmir province — have been reported in J&K during the last 24 hours, thus taking the total number of positive cases in the UT to 35,831. Also seven Covid-19 deaths, all from the Kashmir valley, were reported from J&K.
As many as 651 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals — 195 from the Jammu region and 456 from the Kashmir valley.
According to the official bulletin issued on Friday evening, out of 35,831 positive cases, 7781 were active, 27,372 have recovered and 678 have died — 57 in the Jammu division and 621 in the Kashmir valley.
The bulletin said out of 9,29,733 test results available, 8,93,902 samples have been tested as negative.
Meanwhile a Central team, comprising member, NITI Aayog, Government of India, Dr Vinod Kumar Paul, along with Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, Dr SK Singh, on Friday chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat regarding control measures being implemented by the administration to prevent the spread of the deadly virus in J&K.
While reviewing the strategies and parameters followed by the health and districts administration to control Covid-19, the team stressed upon the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to evolve an effective containment strategy for early detection of affected cases for controlling the spread of coronavirus.
The team complimented the J&K Administration for 100 per cent testing of travellers, who enter the UT, saying that the strategy could be followed by other states and UTs as model testing for travellers.

Asymptomatic patients allowed home isolation
The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday revised its Covid-19 guidelines and declared that all asymptomatic positive cases in the Jammu province would be kept allowed home isolation.
The decision, however, came with a rider that the all asymptomatic Covid positive cases in the Jammu province would be allowed home isolation with conditions as in Kashmir — free oximeter, compulsory Arogya Setu App and proper isolation space with a poster outside the house.
‘No mask, no goods’
In a move to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, Jammu traders have decided not to sell goods to any customer who comes to their shops without wearing a mask.
The decision has been taken in view of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Jammu city. Traders believe that it would help to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
