Social and Political groups across Jammu oppose Ramadan truce plan

Social and political groups in Jammu have opposed any move to declare ceasefire and stopping anti-terror operations in Kashmir during Ramadan as demanded by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during the all-party meeting.
Members of the Dogra Front organised a protest and demanded that the Army should be given a freehand to deal with militants.
“People of Jammu and the nationalist population of the state oppose any move that will jeopardise the efforts of the Army and the police to curb terrorism in Kashmir. We appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh not to pay any heed to the demand raised by the Chief Minister,” said Ashok Gupta, Dogra Front president.
Meanwhile, in a statement, former Education Minister and National Panthers Party chairman Harsh Dev Singh questioned the silence of the BJP ministers and Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta during the all-party meeting on the ceasefire issue.
“Why the BJP ministers, especially Deputy Chief Minister, remained silent and did not defend the Army and the need for a decisive action against militancy and its supporters. It is matter for concern,” Harsh Dev said.
He said the people of Jammu would never forgive the BJP for allegedly surrendering before the PDP to remain in power.
Another demonstration was held by Jammu West Assembly Movement activists led by its president Sunil Dimple against the Ramazan truce plan announcement.
Dimple said the PDP-BJP government was responsible for the rise in militancy and the failure to curb it, was leading to daily bloodshed in the state.
