Amid widening gulf between two coalition partners over contentious issues, all BJP ministers would meet Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday to register their protest over unilateral decisions being taken by the government on “sensitive” issues.
Sources said the decision to meet the CM was taken following directions from the Central leadership as the BJP high command had taken a serious note of controversial policy orders of the government. “Many decisions on sensitive issues were taken unilaterally by the PDP ministers and these are going to prove disastrous for the BJP in the Jammu region,” a BJP minister, who wished not to be quoted, told Kashmir Post. He said the “communal’ approach” of PDP ministers in the alleged rape and murder case in Kathua had fuelled anger among the party cadre.
Sources said the BJP leadership was annoyed over the CM’s judgemental statement in the case, dubbing all arrested persons as “rapists” without waiting for the court’s verdict.
“The CM is working as president of PDP not as head of the coalition,” the minister said, adding, “PDP ministers are ignoring wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu.”
