District administration Pulwama has issued a show cause notice to a leading private school for forcing students to purchase stationery items from the school itself, in complete violation of the court directions.
The show cause notice to Dolphin International School was issued after a group of parents approached district administration alleging that school has not only been forcing them to purchase stationery items but it has added extra 10 books to the curriculum of Nursery Class students.
The complaint reveals that the school has added 10 extra books to the curriculum of Nursery class students taking the total number of books to 17 and has been charging Rs 4750 for these books.
Acting upon the complaint, a team of officials from the district headed by Assistant Commissioner Revenue visited the school to ascertain the facts. However, ironically, the school management instead of cooperating with the team accused it of harassment and the next day filed a complaint with the Chief Ministers Grievance Cell. Well placed sources said that the owner of the school has close connection with a political party.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Pulwama, Nisar Ahmed confirmed to news agency CNS that parents have filed a complaint against Dolphin International School. He, however added that so far they have not received any communiqué from the school in response to the show cause notice issued by the district administration.
Earlier, a complaint of similar nature was filed by parents against Lycium Public School in the same district. However, after intervention from district administration, the school management not only reduced the number of books from 17 to 10 in curriculum but also returned an amount to the tune of Rs 20 lakhs to parents.
