Gunfight erupt in Pakherpora, teens hit by bullets & pellets in clashes

A gunfight between militants and government forces broke out in Futlipora village of Pakharpora in central’s Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday. A teenage boy was injured in the clashes in Pakharpora.
An official said that Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 10 Garhwal of army cordoned off Futlipora today morning around 6 am after “specific inputs” about the presence of militants.
“As the forces approached the suspected house, the militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight,” he said.
He said two to four militants are believed to be trapped inside the house, belonging to Muhammad Asadullah.
Heavy exchange of fire was going on at the time of filing of this report.
Reports said that an army convoy headed towards Futlipora where a gunfight is underway was attacked with stones by protesters at main chowk Pakharpora.
They said that army men resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protesters.
During the clashes, they said, 15-year-old Sinar Ahmad Mir sustained a bullet injury in his face.
He was rushed to Community Health Centre Pakharpora where from he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

At least two youths were injured in clashes near the site of gunfight in Futlipora village of Pakherpora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.
Reports said that youth took to streets and pelted the forces with stones to disrupt the anti-militant operation.
The forces, they said, responded by firing teargas shells and pellet guns.
“Two teenagers sustained pellet injuries in the clashes. They were being treated at CHC Pakherpora for treatment,” said a health official.
Both the injured are residents of Karpora Check village of Pakherpora.
Meanwhile, the exchange of fire is on between militants and forces.
Another teen was hit by a bullet in clashes at main chowk Pakherpora after army opened fire to disperse stone-throwing protesters.
