Joint separatist leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Wednesday blamed the government authorities and forces for ongoing braid-chopping incidents in Kashmir.
In a statement, they said: “The shameful act of braid chopping by forces and authorities is aimed to divert the attention of people from right to self-determination movement for which the people have presented unparalleled sacrifices.”
Expressing serious concern over increasing incidents of braid-chopping, the leaders said: “In presence of heavy contingents of forces personnel and under a well thought out ploy, the devilish act is being sponsored to create fear psychosis and a conspiracy is being hatched against sanctity of social legacy.”
Blaming authorities for ‘shielding criminals’, the leaders said: “The reports pouring in from every nook and corner of the state have revealed that as soon as the culprits are nabbed by people, the forces and special task force personnel appear on the scene and under the cover of firing, create scare and flee along with these criminals (braid choppers).”
“The rulers should desist from mean tactics of harassing people. These cowardice acts, mysterious incidents of setting ablaze localities and ‘operation ghost’ in the past have neither helped authorities nor could diverted people’s attention from the Kashmir movement.”
The leaders stressed for demonstration of unity and steadfastness among the people at all levels to carry the movement to its final destination.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of the JSL, the leaders and activists of Hurriyat Conference (G), Hurriyat Conference (M) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) held a protest demonstration at Jamia Masjid here against increasing incidents of braid chopping.
