The workers of Congress Party, led by former minister Raman Bhalla, today staged a protest demonstration against the BJP alleging that it (BJP) has cheated the people of Jammu region just for sake of power.
The protesters assembled at Karan Bagh Chowk, Chatha Morh, Jammu, and staged a strong demonstration against the BJP. Raising slogans against the saffron party for “betraying people of Jammu”, they also burnt effigy of BJP.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Bhalla said that BJP, which claims to be the champion of Jammu people, has betrayed the mandate of the people by taking U-turn on all vital commitments made with the people during elections.
“The farmers, business community, traders and students are fed up with this government, which has failed on all fronts whether it is providing basic facilities to the people, whether paying timely wages to the daily wagers or checking price hike of essential commodities,” Bhalla said.
Bhalla said that against promised two crores jobs, only 2.31 lakh jobs were available in 2015-16.
He said, the labour bureau report reflects that Government of India admitted loss of 2 lakh jobs from October 2016 to January-17 due to demonetization, and 10 lakh unemployed youth join the list every month.
He said, “Another major anti-worker step of the government is linking of Aadhaar Card as mandatory for MGNRGA jobs, whereas only 15% registered workers are linked to Aadhaar.”
He said, “Making Adhar Card mandatory for midday meal scheme from February 2017, would deny facility to 14 crore school children”.
He said, the border residents are suffering due to unprecedented incidents of ceasefire violations but the government has failed to fulfill the commitment for safe shelter to them in the shape of plots and bunkers.
