Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary Ram Madhav today said New Delhi had kept its doors open for a dialogue on the Kashmir issue without any pre-conditions.
“We have maintained that our doors are open to all stakeholders in the state… they are welcome to come and have a dialogue… whoever wants to talk to the Central government, we are open to dialogue. We are open to talk to everybody who wants to come and have a dialogue with us…without any preconditions,” Madhav told reporters here. He made the comments when asked if the Centre would extend an invite to the Hurriyat for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. Madhav is on a two-day visit to the state amid speculations of a Cabinet reshuffle and reports that the party high command had received complaints about the “non-performance” of BJP legislators and Cabinet ministers.
Soon after his visit, he met party leaders and workers and later had a one-on-one meeting with Cabinet ministers. Party sources said Madhav took feedback from the ministers including those against whom complaints were received. They said Madhav would take up the matter with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and a call on reshuffling, if any, would be taken by the party high command in New Delhi.
The sources said even the Kashmir-based workers complained to Madhav that the BJP leaders were not cooperating. “Several workers complained that the BJP ministers were not cooperating and were inaccessible even to workers. Some even said a few BJP ministers had ego issues and should be replaced,” said a BJP worker wishing anonymity.
However, Madhav ruled out a Cabinet reshuffle and said he was here to make the party stronger. “There is no discussion on reshuffle. When it takes place, we will let you know….our workers have vowed to make the party stronger here and they feel that the BJP and Prime Minister Modi’s leadership is drawing huge support from the state, especially in the Valley… we will talk to our ministers and the PDP about this so that our workers get full support from the government,” Madhav said. Stating that the Centre would like to see total normalcy restored in the state, he said the BJP was committed to giving good governance to the people while seeking cooperation from the Opposition. “If the opposition parties also cooperate with us, very soon we will see complete normalcy in the state,” he added.
On the Rohingya issue, he said: “The Rohingya issue is right now before the Supreme Court. It will be dealt with from a security perspective also….” When pointed out that coalition partner PDP had termed it a humanitarian issue, he said: “As far as the humanitarian angle is concerned, we have to also take care of the human rights and the humanitarian concerns of 125 crore Indians.” Meanwhile, while addressing party workers, Madhav praised the J&K police for putting in their best efforts in bringing peace. He also asked the party cadre to gear up for the panchayat elections.
