Star all-rounder of J&K on Tuesday took five wickets for India Green against India Blue on the first day of the 4-Day Duleep Trophy day night match at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.
After missing first match due to his Hajj journey, the only cricketer to have played International cricket from J&K made his presence felt. He first broke dangerous looking third wicket partnership between India Blue skipper Suresh Raina and Manoj Tiwary.
Parvez then went on to wreck havoc in India Blue middle order taking five wickets in his bowling spell of 17 overs.
Earlier India Blue won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost two quick wickets A V Choudhary gave Parthiv Patel lead Indian Green early breakthrough. After that Suresh Raina and Manoj Tiwary formed strong third wicket partnership. They were looking solid in the middle and put on 90 run partnership between them. The introduction of Parvez Rasool in the bowling attack changed the story as Raina became his first victim after scoring 40.
Parvez then added Deepak Hooda and Jaydev Unadkat to his victims. The solid looking Manoj Tiwary became Parvez’s fourth scalp after scoring brilliant fighting 78 runs. He was clean bowled by Parvez. The JK Ranji trophy skipper completed his five wicket haul by taking wicket of Bhargav Bhat. The last two wickets of India Blue inning were bagged by MJ Dagar.
India Blue were bundled out for 177 runs in 52 overs. Parvez finished with winning figures of 17 overs, one maiden and taking five wickets. India Green was yet to start their response when this report was being filed. It is day/night pink ball 4-day test.
