After staying away from picturesque Valley following the unrest in 2016, Bollywood has returned to Kashmir with Hindi movie star Sidharth Malhotra having shot in beautiful locales of Gulmarg and Pahalgam recently for his upcoming movie ‘Aiyaary’.
The resumption of Bollywood shooting has been termed a welcome move by the tourism players in Kashmir, who have been facing the brunt of negative publicity by some sections of national media.
Last year, as per tourism officials, various film projects which were scheduled to be shot in Kashmir were cancelled due to unrest following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
“Sidharth Malhotra along with national award winning director Neeraj Pandey shot for a week in Gulmarg and Pahalgam,” said Director Ahad Group of Hotels, Asif Burza. Malhotra had stayed at the Burza’s Hotel Pine and Peak at Pahalgam.
“The arrangements for the shooting were helmed by Khawar Jhamseed film productions and the stars stayed at our property at Pahalgam,” he said adding that resumption of Bollywood shootings are a welcome move for the Kashmir’s tourism sector.
Regarding the shooting of Aiyaary, Burza said that Bollywood stars visited all the parts of Pahalgam including Beetab Valley, Chandwari etc and enjoyed their stay.
“Resumption of Bollywood shooting would help us clear the negative perception created by certain elements outside the state,” Burza said that they are hoping of seeing more films being shot in beautiful Valley of Kashmir.
Sidharth Malhotra, who was shooting in Kashmir for his upcoming film Aiyaary, has always updated on his social media networking account pictures and videos from Betaab Valley in Kashmir in which he is being seen performing Sunny Deol’s iconic step of ‘Yaara Oh Yaara’ from his film Jeet.
