Over a dozen security men were injured in five separate terror attacks across Kashmir Valley on Tuesday evening. The terrorists also snatched four service rifles from cops on guard at the ancestral house of a former high court judge in Anantnag in south Kashmir.
At least nine CRPF men were injured when Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists hurled a grenade at their camp at Lariyar village of Tral in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, the police said. “They lobbed a grenade on 180 Battalion CRPF camp at Lariyar on Tuesday . Nine CRPF men received splinter injuries and they were shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar,” a senior police officer said.
The security forces launched a search operation at Layar after the attack. This was second grenade attack in Tral on CRPF within 24 hours. On Monday night, terrorists had hurled a grenade in Tral Town in which two paramilitary men were injured.
In another attack on Tuesday , they hurled a grenade at a CRPF camp in Sirbal area of Pahalgam in Anantnag district in south Kashmir.There was no report of any injuries.
In a separate attack, the terrorists fired upon an Army camp of 22 Rashtriya Rifles at Pazalpora in Sopore and fled when the Army retaliated. When contacted, the Commandant of 22 RR said terrorists fired from somewhere far and managed to escape. Weapons were snatched at Anchidora residence of retired high court judge Muhammad Athar. While two cops were injured in the attack, the terrorists fled with four SLRs rifles from the possession of the guards on duty. Athar was not present at home when the attack took places.
