Pellet terror continues, scores injured in Kakapora clashes, Resistance group calls for protests

At least 40 persons were injured in clashes between protesters and government forces following the killing of three militants in Kakapora area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Thursday.
Hospital sources said that more than thirty persons, with pellet, assault and shell injuries were brought to PHC Kakapora.
Around eight persons were allegedly assaulted by forces while they were returning from the funeral of Lashkar militant Majid in Kakapora, they said. “They were also being treated at the hospital,” said an official.
Over a dozen were being treated at Sub-district hospital Pampore, sources said.
Clashes erupted in Kakapora, Awantipora and other areas of Pulwama district on Thursday after three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed in an overnight gunbattle with forces in New Colony Kakapora.

Meanwhile, The Joint Resistance Leadership has called for protests after Friday prayers against the “target killing” of a civilian in Kakapora area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, the leadership condemned the killing of the civilian following the death of three militants in an encounter with forces.

The leadership dubbed as “genocide” the “target killing” of a civilian and injuring of over 40 persons during the clashes with government forces.
They said that a spike in civilian killings has been witnessed after the threat issued by Indian army chief Gen Bipin Rawat.
“Forces personnel have been provided with a license to carry out the killings,” they said.
