Jammu is likely to get respite from sweltering heat as weathermen have predicted four days of rainfall starting tomorrow.
As per the weather advisory of the Agromet unit of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu, following rains from May 31 to June 3, the maximum temperature will range between 34°C to 35°C and the minimum temperature will range between 27°C to 28°C.
High temperature in north India between April-June is due to the absence of any Western Disturbance, which bring rains and only the hot winds blowing from Western Asia smash plains of the sub-continent.
“There is a forecast for rains but it will also dependent on the upper atmosphere conditions. Some areas will receive heavy rains while others are likely to receive light rainfall,” said Dr Mahender Singh, in charge, Agrometeorology division of SKUAST.
During the past 15 days, the temperature in Jammu and Kashmir, especially southern districts of the state, is rising steadily, which has affected the routine life.
Further, due to the unscheduled power cuts, people are facing a lot of problems. It has also affected the drinking water supply leaving people with no choice but to suffer the agony of heat.
“There is no escape from summer, but we are keenly waiting for rains. It will bring down the temperature. Power cuts are making our lives miserable,” said Rohan Sharma, a trader.
