Days after J&K Police chief said social media was being used to instigate the youth in the Valley, some arrests over its misuse has been made. A police spokesman said it had activated its technical cells across Kashmir to monitor activities following the reports that some miscreants were misusing the cyber space.
“It was reported and found that some videos and posts were uploaded and shared to harm the reputation of some professionals and officers. The Pantha Chowk police station, Zakoora police station and Chanapora police post have arrested some miscreants who threatened these professionals and government functionaries through their posts and uploads,” the spokesman said.
He, however, did not disclose the number of arrests that have been made.
The spokesman added that further investigation was going on in this regard.
Last week, J&K Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid said social media was being used to instigate the youth to throw stones at the forces.
He had also warned of action against WhatsApp groups for instigating the youth for stone-throwing.
