Displaced Kashmiri Pandits have alleged that the Central Government was following the ‘appeasement policy’ towards separatists in the Valley.
The community has claimed that the rising terrorist violence is the direct result of the weak policies adopted by the government.
Addressing a meeting of the Jagti Tenement Committee, its president SL Pandita said militant violence had increased in the Valley in the last two years, but the Central and the state governments had no formal policy to deal with the separatists.
He also demanded that the government should resume the issuance of the Resident of Backward Area (RBA) certificates in favour of the Pandit youth, who were being denied such certificates after the exodus of Hindus from the Valley.
Meanwhile, Youth All India Kashmir Samaj said the employees of the Prime Minister’s Package should be treated like migrant employees till militancy was totally curbed in the Valley.
“The government has failed to ensure the safety and rehabilitation of 1,800 employees who returned to the Valley in 2010. Also, the rising militancy is a matter of concern. We demand the government to relook into the entire structure of employees’ rehabilitation after a serious dialogue with the representatives concerned of the community,” said RK Bhat, Youth All India Kashmir Samaj president.
The demand was raised during a seminar where the issues confronting the community were discussed. Speaking on the occasion, Panun Kashmir president Ashwani Chrangoo explained the fundamental contours of the Comprehensive Political Agenda which was submitted to the Union Government.
“In view of the changing circumstances, we all need to review the methods of struggle. The government has to be apprised about the priorities. The core political issues concerning the geopolitical rights of the people have been taken up with the Central Government through the appropriate political channel,” Chrangoo added.
