Ministers resign on ‘Petty Issues,’ but remain silent when people were killed: Karra

The Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra Monday took a jibe at two ministers of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for tendering their resignation for what he termed as “petty issues” and accused them of “acting blind” when Kashmiris were being killed during 2016 uprising.
“They were given less important portfolios that is why Basharat and Imran resigned,” Karra told Kashmir Post, adding that people of Kashmir would in no way appreciate their actions.

Karra said in case they had resigned when people were killed, blinded, and maimed it would be a “brave act.” “Now they have resigned on petty issues and it’s unfortunate,” he said and claimed that he felt the pain of people of Kashmir and resigned.
Karra said that he did not join Congress with any pre-condition. “I did not ask them for any position in party. My joining is totally unconditional,” he said.
Stating the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Unit made his entry into Congress possible, Karra said that he has not decided whether to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha by elections or not. “So far we have not discussed any issues,” he said.

About the Lok Sabha, by elections for Srinagar and Anantnag seat, Kara said incase Congress asks him to contest, he would meet the people first. “If my people will give me go-ahead then I will contest,” he said, adding he is people’s representative.
It’s in place to mention here that former Member Parliament from Srinagar, Tariq Hamid Kara, had quit the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and resigned from the Parliament five months ago. He joined Congress last week.
After quitting PDP, Kara had accused the Central Government of mishandling the situation in 2016, “When the unrest started in Kashmir in 2016 BJP-PDP mishandled the situation and people of the state. They jailed people, they killed people and even blinded the children,” he had alleged. “Thus my conscience did not allow me to remain in the PDP and I resigned,” he had said.
