“These vehicles were carrying passengers to Srinagara and were stopped by some miscreants,” a police officer who is in-charge of the area said. “Once they stopped, they were set afire.” He said the incident took place at around 7:45 am near Mandi Crossing in Qamarwari belt.

Meanwhile, deep down in south Kashmir, suspected militants snatched five weapons from the cops guarding a broadcasting tower. The incident was reported in a Dooru village late last night.
Reports suggest that the weapon snatchers managed their entry into the room of the tower station where weapons were kept. They took five and fled. The snatched weapons include 3 SLRs, one INSAS and a carbine.
Cops radioed the details to the senior officers and an alert was immediately sounded. One report said some senior officer visited the spot late in the night.
The guard of the Low Power Transmission Station was reportedly replaced and made more secure.
South Kashmir is witnessed a massive appetite for the weapons in the last three months. The trend is indicative of more youth joining the militancy but not having enough of weapons. There have been more than 30 such incidents from the belt. The trend was made popular by slain Hizb militant Burhan Wani whose killing in July triggered the ongoing unrest.
