Massive pro-freedom rallies are being held in South Kashmir’s Tral town and North Kashmir’s Sopore town. Reports reaching here said that thousands of people assembled in Gulshanpora area of Tral and a massive pro-freedom rally is in progress.
“At least four speakers have addressed the rally,” a participant said, “it is most peaceful and a disciplined one.” Tral is home town of slain popular militant commander Burhan Wani.
“The forces had come this morning to disperse off the people but we should resistance and the rally commenced,” the participant said. A newspaper report said that at least a dozen persons were injured in clashes in the area today. Eyewitnesses said that clashes broke out in the Gulshanpora-Batigund village of Tral when forces tried to foil a pro-freedom rally where forces fired pellets, tear gas canisters and slingshots.
Meanwhile, reports reaching here said that thousands of people have assembled in Mohalla Rahim Sahab Sopore where they held Namaz Zuhr.“Around 5000 people are now marching through the area amid pro-freedom slogans,” reports said. Meanwhile, reports said that over a dozen people were injured after clashes erupted in Aavura village of Kupwara in north Kashmir today.
Reports said that clashes have been going on in the area since today morning.
