Hurriyat (M) on Sunday condemned what it called the “brutal tactics”, continuous curfew and severe restrictions imposed throughout Kashmir to stop the people from taking out protest marches and carrying forward their struggle for right to self-determination.
In a statement the spokesman said, “For the past 23 days, the oppressive and suppressive tactics of the government were continuing while forces are present at every square were indulging in barbaric activities by openly displaying their dictatorial and Nazi mindset.”
Expressing serious concern over the “barbarism of forces at Imam Sahab Shopian, Paya Chan Bandipora and dozens of other places with indiscriminate firing of bullets and pellets at peaceful protestors resulting in critical injuries to half a dozen minor students, arrests of scores of youth from various areas of the Valley, and preparing of a list for arrest of over 1000 youth,” the spokesman said.
“Crackdown, night raids, ransacking of precious belongings of people by forcefully entering into their houses by forces, and harassment and manhandling of residents were war crimes intended to break the will of people for striving for their basic right to self-determination,” he added.
The spokesman also condemned the continued arrest of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik at Central jail, continued house arrest of the veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and placing restrictions on their activities and termed the continued arrest and house arrest of Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza whose health has also deteriorated, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Javed Ahmad Mir, and dozens of Hurriyat leaders and activists as the acceptance of defeat of the ruling class and said these tactics had failed and cannot suppress Kashmir’s resistance movement.
Supporting the protest programme given by the unified resistance leaders till 5 August 2016, the spokesman appealed people to follow these programmes in letter and spirit and exhibit unity and brotherhood at these trying and difficult times and remain consistent and show resolve to carry on the resistance movement with dedication.
