The separatists leadership on Monday issued a protests calendar for three days starting from July 19 till July 21.
In a joint statement Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said: “In continuation with the protest program people should observe complete shutdown on July 19 and 20 and July 20 would be observed as black day. On July 21 shutdown will continue till 2pm”
“There will again be a complete shutdown on Friday July 22 and post Friday prayers peaceful protest would be held in all Masjids across the state,” the joint statement said.
They also rejected Government of India’s statement in Indian parliament today with regard to the current killings and extreme repression in Kashmir by blaming pro- freedom leadership and others, saying that the current situation is a “Direct consequence of Delhi’s military approach towards the Kashmir problem.”
Praising the courage and steadfastness of people in these most trying times they said, “All forms of expressing resentment and protest against the unabated killings and injuring of innocent civilians have been curbed, right to assemble and mourn snatched, shoot to kill ordered, strict restrictions enforced, leadership caged, media censored and gagged, any and every human and civil right violated, the options to protest and resist this extreme oppression and assault on people are extremely limited.”
