Geelani Salutes people’s Courage, Dedication, stresses on Discipline, Commitment

Geelani stresses on Discipline, CommitmentAppealing people not to be swayed by the hollow and false slogans of democracy, humanity and Kashmiriyat and remaining stead past in their struggle, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani Thursday saluted the courage and dedication of people during these tough days of oppression at the hands of occupying forces.

He was addressing a gathering from Hyderpora and adjoining areas, especially youth and women who wanted to meet him, but were stopped by the police at airport road, a statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (g) said this evening.

“They started slogans in favour of Azaadi, Burhan and Geelani Sahab,” the statement said.

Geelani addressed them through the window of his office-cum-residence and thanked them for showing their concern.

He stressed on the discipline and advised them to endorse and follow the program given by the resistance camp.

Commenting on the Union Home Minister Raj Nath Singh’s speech in Parliament wherein he had said that “we uphold of the ethos of democracy, humanity and Kashmiriyat”, Geelani said, “we have tasted the fruits of the Indian democracy for the last 69 years. Their so-called democracy has forcibly occupied our territory and they use all their un-democratic means to suppress our just struggle.”

Regarding humanity Geelani said, “Indian Rulers should feel ashamed to utter words like humanity as they are most un-human and brutal people & if anybody wants to see the imprints of their so-called humanity they should come and see how every nook and corner of Kashmir is stained with the blood of innocents. They have butchered more than 6 lakh people here in Jammu and Kashmir and the killing spree still has no end. Their ‘humanity’ echoes in every house of Kashmir. They may hoodwink their own people or others but not we Kashmiris, as we have seen their criminal and cruel face for the last 7 decades.”

“Even their own people in India like Dalits and low caste Hindus are not safe in the hands of these champions of ‘humanity’, and every day these poor chaps are subjected to the worst king of humiliation and brutality at the hands of upper caste Hindus and goons of Sangh Parivar who are being encouraged by the stalwarts of these fanatic and religious monks,” he said.

Referring to ‘Kashmiriyat’ by Union home minister, Geelani said, “we are in better know-how of our centuries old human and ethical traditions and we don’t need lecture from anybody especially those whose hands are drenched in the human blood especially Kashmiris. We hold our tradition even in the toughest times and we are proud of these values and our non-Muslim brothers stand testimony to our beliefs.”

Terming the Indian politicians in Kashmiri as the “collaborators of the bloodshed and genocide of Kashmiri and the paid goons of Delhi”, Geelani said, “they help our killers just for their personal benefits, but they must remember that history doesn’t spare anybody and they will be remembered as the tools of these butchers and will have to pay a heavy price if not here then hereafter.”

Commenting on reports from various departments that their officers especially those from outside the state are issuing curfew passes to their employees and compel them to defer the on-going protests, Geelani warned these outsiders that “you are not in India but in Jammu and Kashmir and you need to respect the sentiment of the majority and stop playing the dirty role of helping the oppressors, otherwise you will be yourself responsible for the consequences”.

The octogenarian Hurriyat leader appealed employees that they should join their people and raise the voice against the atrocities and unjust treatment meted out to their brethren.

“They are not alone but whole nation is with them as this is our common cause,” he said.

After shouting slogans for a while people dispersed peacefully, the statement said.
