The delegation, according to the Hurriyat spokesman, said they are living in Panderathen area from last 150 years and the “government is forcing them to leave the area now without arranging any alternate accommodation.”
Terming the BJP-PDP coalition government as “biggest enemy of Kashmiris”, the Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Monday said these people want to settle non-state subjects in the state and render state-subjects homeless.
Hitting out at PDP, he said for remaining in power this party has started “a long-term process of eliminating Kashmiri people.”
Meanwhile, a Hurriyat (G) spokesman said a delegation of residents from Pandrathen and Badamibagh here came to Tehreek-e-Hurriyat office at Hyderpora and desired to meet Geelani. “But police didn’t allow them to meet him,” he said. “On hearing about the incident, Geelani directed his personal secretary Peer Saifullah and his deputy Abdul Hameed Magray to meet the delegation.”
The delegation, according to the Huriyat spokesman, said they are living in Panderathen area from last 150 years and the “government is forcing them to leave the area now without arranging any alternate accommodation.”
“After our resistance, the administration used excessive force against us and used teargas shelling and lathi-charge to silence us. Not only this, the SHO concerned used abusive language and threatened us of dire consequences,” the delegation told the Hurriyat members.
Peer Saifullah assured the delegation that he will convey their concerns to Geelani.
The spokesman said Geelani was deeply grieved on hearing the issues of the delegation and strongly condemned the government action.
He said local pro-India political parties have always “unleashed enormous atrocities on their own people since 1947.”
“Unfortunately the narrow-minded leaders of one pro-India party (NC) established relations with the Indian National Congress in 1947 and made the entire nation slave of Indian imperialism and now another pro-India party (PDP) is establishing its relations with fanatic communal forces who want to eliminate Kashmiris from this region,” Geelani said. “We have to stop the wicked designs of RSS-backed PDP government, otherwise we will become strangers in our own land.”
The Hurriyat Chairman cautioned that expulsion of Panderathen residents will have serious consequences.
“If it is so compulsory to evacuate the area, then these people should be provided with alternate place and adequate compensation for their rehabilitation,” he said.
