Jammu being developed as independent tourist placeUnderlining the commitment of the government to develop tourist destinations in Jammu province, Minister of State for Tourism, Education, Technical Education, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi recently said efforts were afoot to promote the tourism sector in Jammu division.
She said special focus was being laid on developing Jammu as an independent tourism destination. Interacting with different stakeholders of the tourism industry here, the minister called upon them to work in unison with the government to exploit to the fullest vast tourism potential of the region.
There was a huge tourism potential in the region and need for joint efforts of different stakeholders in exploiting and tapping the tourism potential, she said, adding that it would go a long way in promoting the tourism industry in the region.
“The Gondola project of Bagh-e-Bahu Maha Maya temple, Mubarak Mandi heritage complex, beautification of Tawi bank, artificial lake, border tourism and pilgrimage tourism are some projects on which fast-track work is under way,” she said.
Responding to issues raised by representatives of the tourism industry, Priya Sethi said the government was committed to bring the city of temples on the tourism map of the country and all necessary steps for the same would be taken in a time-bound manner.
She directed the authorities of the Tourism Department to take up immediate steps on the issues highlighted. She called for time-bound redressal of genuine problems, which could help in boosting tourist influx in the region.
The minister assured representatives of the hotel industry that the recent order of single-window clearance for registration would be made industry friendly and necessary instructions would be issued to those concerned for ensuring time-bound clearance of registration cases.
