Taking a serious note of unpunctuality in government offices, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has issued directions that attendance of all employees should be checked thoroughly and without any consideration given to anyone related to persons holding high public offices.
She has also directed that no ‘special treatment’ should be given to such persons for availing benefits and accessing services available to the citizens under the framework laid down.
“In order to ensure punctuality in government offices and for promoting a transparent work culture, the Chief Minister has directed that attendance of employees shall be checked and reported to their controlling officers, on a daily or weekly basis. This should be done without any consideration of their being related with the persons holding high public offices, constitutional or any other influential position,” read a circular issued by the state government last evening.
The government has directed all Administrative Secretaries to ensure strict compliance with the instructions.
The Chief Minister, while chairing a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and superintendents of police at her residence last week, had asked the officers not to extend undue favours to those wielding influence in the corridors of power.
