The Northern Railway is likely to introduce two fast passenger trains from Budgam to Banihal next month.
The Railways had to launch the two trains from January 1, but the launch was delayed due to some reasons
Having limited stoppages, these will cut travel time by at least an hour between Budgam in central Kashmir and Banihal in the Jammu region.
“We are planning to run the limited stop trains from next month. Initially, they will run between Budgam and Banihal and later to Baramulla,” said a Railways official.
“The final date of commencement of the service will be decided by the Railway Board,” the official added.
The trains will halt at Qazigund, Anantnag, Srinagar and Budgam stations.
Kashmir trains chugs 135 km from Baramulla to Banihal.
