NIA books Ganderbal youth Azhar for alleged IS links

The National Investigation Agency has booked a youth from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for his alleged links with the ‘Islamic State’ (IS) organization. The 120-km-long highway connects Kashmir with Muzaffarabad in PoK The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is in the process of taking over the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri national highway from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Experts raise alarm over dumping of Jhelum’s dredged material

Despite the Central government’s financial support, the dredging of the Jhelum has put the J&K Government in a difficult situation as the disposal of excavated material may need over thousands of kanals. Experts have raised an alarm as the department is disposing silt and sand excavated from the river in low-lying areas of Srinagar which may lead to another 2014-like floods. The administration has announced imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC around centers where the examination of Higher Secondary part-two, annual private session, will be conducted next month in the district here, an official spokesman said.
