Harassment of Kashmiri students in Delhi condemned
All Parties Hurriyet Conference (G), the representative body of twenty-four pro-freedom organizations, has said that Indian authorities are victimizing the Delhi-based Kashmiri intellectual, Professor Syed Abdur Rehman Gilani, just for being a Kashmiri Muslim.
The APHC (G) in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the rejection of the bail application of Professor SAR Gilani by a lower court in New Delhi terming it a politically motivated judgment. It said that during the function held at the Press Club of India on 9th February some questions were raised regarding the judicial murder of Muhammad Afzal Guru. The statement said that although Professor Gilani was present in the event but he had said or done nothing on the basis of which he could be booked under sedition.The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement in Srinagar appealed to the world human rights organizations to use their influence to stop the Indian authorities from implicating Professor SAR Gilani and students of Jawaharlal Nehru University in fake cases. He said that if Professor Gilani was not released and harassment of Kashmiri students in New Delhi did not stop a strong reaction would come to fore in occupied Kashmir.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a media interview in Srinagar deplored that India was resorting to suppressive measures to muzzle the voices of Indian youth who were supporting the Kashmiris.
On the other hand, Indian police have started a massive crackdown against the Kashmiri students studying in different universities in Delhi and some of them have returned to the Kashmir Valley. A JNU student, who has returned to Kashmir, told media that the Kashmiri students were facing harassment everywhere in the Indian capital. Hurriyet leaders, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Qazi Yasir and the Jamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory in their addresses and statements condemned the harassment of Kashmiri students.
Kashmir Freedom Front held a demonstration in Pulwama against the recent killing of two students, Danish Mir and Shaista Hameed, by Indian troops in area.
Meanwhile, the goons of extremist Hindu organizations, RSS and BJP assaulted the member of so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, in Bamla area of Reasi district. Engineer Rasheed was on his way to Rajouri district for a public meeting.
